SPECTACULAR VIEW OF MASAI MARA WILDEBEEST MIGRATION

BEST SPOT TO WITNESS GREAT MASAI MIGRATION

If you’re planning to book a safari package to witness the wildebeest migration, you might be wondering which national park, Masai Mara or Serengeti, is the best option. The best choice for this spectacle is Masai Mara, but keep in mind that it is a smaller reserve than Serengeti and may be crowded with tourists. The nearby private conservancies offer a more exclusive experience and are less populated. By visiting these conservancies, you will not only witness the migration but also support the Maasai villages that have lived there for generations.

SUMMARISED ITINERARY FOR MASAI MARA WILDEBEEST MIGRATION PACKAGES

Nairobi - Masai Mara Game Reserve - Hemmingway Trail

Depart from Nairobi in the morning and head south through the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Narok before arriving at Mara for late afternoon game viewing en route. Take an early evening game drive before settling in for dinner and overnight stay at a budget campsite or lodge.

Full day at the Masai Mara Game Reserve

During the second day of your Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari, we will be immersing ourselves in the beauty of the area while carefully maintaining the peaceful morning atmosphere with our 4×4 Land Cruisers. These vehicles provide optimal game-viewing opportunities.

The Mara is home to a variety of predators, including lions, cheetahs, and the Big Five, as well as more than 99 species of mammals and reptiles. Our journey will take us far and wide across the vast plain grasslands, heading east to the sandy thickets of Ngama Hills to spot black rhinos, and west to the grass and acacia woodlands of the Mara.

Interestingly, the heart of the Mara is the most densely populated area of the park, yet it receives the fewest visitors. The view from here is stunning, with the Mara River serving as the biggest barrier for the migrating herd. This part of the Mara is unspoiled, and serene, and is undoubtedly the highlight of our Maasai Mara migration safari trip.

We will enjoy a packed lunch surrounded by the breathtaking grasslands and acacia woodlands typical of the Central Plains. In the evening, we will embark on a game drive to the west, exploring the Mara’s Central plains. Here, we will spot a variety of herbivores, including zebras, elands, giraffes, topi, wildebeests, impalas, gazelles, and warthogs.

Maasai Mara - Nairobi

You will have plenty of precious photos and enjoyable memories to take home with you. Welcome!
